How to Search for Availability:

• Use Google Flights.
  • Matrix Airfare Search by ITA Software does not show the cheapest fares for American domestic and some international flights because American change the way it sells its fares.
  • Google Flights will show availability with overnight layovers with this fare. To show availability with layovers of no more than 5 hours, select all Filters, then scroll down to connecting airports and you will see a selector to limit connection duration like this:

• Miles Flown: 4,574 miles or 5.4 cents per mile (Basic Economy) / 6.3 cents per mile (Regular Economy)

• Book on American with dates found on Google Flights.

      • This is instructing Matrix Airfare Search by ITA Software to search for the Basic Economy fare. Use those dates on American and you will be presented with the option to upgrade to the regular economy fare.
  • Destination:  LIS
  • Return Advanced Routing Code:

  • (Click on Advanced Codes link to enable advanced routing code input)
  • Select “See calendar of lowest fares”
  • Duration “3-10” (This is just a sample, you can use any 7 day date range like 3-10, 7-14 etc)
